Spartan Spark

Growing your brand and business takes a lot of work and dedication. You also need specific skills and knowledge which may not be in your wheelhouse. So why not leave it to the experts?

Our team recently launched a marketing campaign for Mean Hakeem Dawodu, a Calgary-based fighter who trained under Coach Brian at Champion's Creed MMA and recently got a 4-fight UFC contract. Spartan Spark's co-founders went all the way to London, England to support Hakeem at his UFC debut on March 17, 2018. Jolly good!

Campaign Highlights

Spartan Spark used their proven process to generate excitement around Hakeem's first fight in the UFC for 2 purposes:

  • To increase followers and engagement in the Mean Hakeem brand.
  • To increase sign ups at the Champion's Creed gym.

Campaign Posts

A variety of campaign posts were created during the Mean Hakeem project, each with a unique purpose and call to action. At Spartan Spark, when we talk about campaign posts, we're talking about creating a piece of text that gets posted in a variety of ways across the internet - blogs, social media, press releases etc.

The campaign posts start off on the website as a blog, for 3 reasons:

  • To attract the search engine bot and rank higher in Google
  • To engage visitors who come to the website
  • As a landing page for social media posts

A variety of methods

Spartan Spark used our proven process which includes a variety of methods to get the story across in an engaging way. Think about each of these areas as being one piece in a puzzle. The puzzle isn’t complete unless you have all the key pieces connected and in the correct placement.

Combined, these methods become a great way to engage fans and potential customers in your brand and business, as well as contribute to your 'know, like, and trust factors'.

  • Copywriting
  • Content Marketing
  • Graphic Design
  • Video
  • Social Media
  • Press Releases
  • Website

The Campaign Posts that were created were used to:

  • Tell Hakeem's story from troubled youth to UFC fighter
  • Garner interest for fundraisers and events
  • Update fans on Hakeem's journey to the UFC leading up to his featherweight debut on March 17th, 2018
  • Update fans on the background details of Coach Brian as he trained and supported Hakeem

Select Samples of Work

Below are some samples of the work that was created for the Mean Hakeem Campaign.

1. Tell Hakeem's story from troubled youth to UFC fighter

2. Garner interest for fundraisers and events

3. Update fans on Hakeem's journey to the UFC leading up to his featherweight debut on March 17th, 2018

Mean Hakeem CTV Interview

4. Follow Coach Brian Bird backstage as he visited Dublin and London to train and support Hakeem

Coach Brian's adventures were best highlighted via video. Coach Brian took footage while he was away and our video editors quickly turned it around into 60 seconds snippets, giving viewers a glimpse into all the background work it takes for fighters to train in preparation for a UFC fight.

Graphic Design

Graphic design is a critical element in capturing readers attention on social media and around the web. Our team gathered photos of Hakeem from the client and other sources, then turned them over to our amazing graphic designers to transform into exciting images, including call-to-action banners, newsletter banners, contest images, quote images, and more.

Campaign Post Graphics

The following graphics were created to share via blog posts, on email marketing and social media.
