Lemons-To-Lemonade

When I first met Michelle about 6 months ago at a Women Presidents' Organization event hosted by the BDC, she was wearing a pink pantsuit with big bows on the ankles, and I thought to myself, "This is my kind of businesswoman!"

I thought she was awesome then, and now, during this pandemic, she has really stepped up to a new level in the 'people and culture' space. This past week, Michelle and her team have empathetically and passionately helped many business owners get through one of the most difficult situations we've been faced with.

We interviewed Michelle Berg on March 18, CHRP Leading Lady & Chief Executive Officer, Elevated HR Solutions — and now known as the Leading Lady of COVID-HR.

In this episode of Project Lemons-to-Lemonade, Michelle recounts what she experienced in this last week and shares tips on what business owners need to know in this dynamic environment.

Why we love her?

  • She's been in the people and culture space for over 21 years
  • She is the leading expert in COVID-19 HR
  • She just got back from Palm Springs — just in time!

Here's the webinar!

Q&A

During the webinar, Michelle answered questions such as

  • Any limitations on benefits for young adults who lost their jobs, but who are living with parents who are supporting them financially while they stay home?
  • Our work has just notified employees that they will be moving to 80 percent work & wages effective April 1, and will be applying for the Work Share Program. Are there options for employees to 'top-up' that 20 percent in wages they are losing?
  • If any employee is looking to leave on Maternity leave in June, will 80 percent hours on Work Share affect the EI benefits available once they apply for EI on Mat Leave?
  • Our work has decided to reduce our hours by 50 percent and consequently, our salaries are halved too. I wanted to know if this move is legal?

Michelle Berg is the Leading Lady and CEO of Elevated HR Solutions — an organization that helps attract, develop and retain top talent by designing workplace strategies and programs so employees and employers can thrive.

Michelle has taken the approach that she can’t advise companies on how to build strong cultures unless she’s doing it herself; many of her stories and ideas have been generated from failed attempts and ultimate successes right at Elevated HR, which she regularly uses as an incubator for new and novel ideas.
