I hate it when marketing agencies give you these convoluted reports that you can't understand. It's like reading a Cash Flow Statement on the first day of accounting class.

I have to admit, at Spartan Spark we've been guilty over geekifying (a few things or maybe many!!) things in the past. And NOW I'm on a mission to make things right in the world!

At minimum you should be benchmarking the following:

  • New Visitors: How are your lead gen efforts doing?
  • Returning Visitors: Are you interesting enough for people to come back to your website, over and over again?
  • Time on Page: Are people spending more than 2 minutes on your website? Do they like what they're seeing?
  • Bounce Rate: How fast do people leave your page? Is your content relevant? Are you attracting the right audience?
  • Click-Through-Rate: Are your ads being served to the right audience?
  • What are your best performing ads?
  • Are you spending the right amount for ads or leaving leads on the table?
  • What do you know about your target audience?
  • How do your metrics compare month-to-month, year-over-year?

Keep in mind that this is the minimum you or your marketing company should be tracking. For those of you who want to geek-out, watch for another tutorial where we go into more detail.
